A Gentle, Whole-Body Approach to Healing
At our practice, we recognize that the body functions as an interconnected system. Tension, injury, stress, surgery, pregnancy, birth, and everyday life experiences can create restrictions within the body's fascial system, contributing to pain, dysfunction, and reduced mobility.
One of the specialized techniques we use is Myofascial Release® (MFR), developed by physical therapist John F. Barnes. This gentle, hands-on approach addresses restrictions within the fascia—the three-dimensional connective tissue network that surrounds and supports every muscle, organ, nerve, blood vessel, and bone in the body.
Fascia is a continuous web of connective tissue that extends from head to toe. When healthy, fascia is flexible and allows for smooth movement. However, physical injuries, surgeries, inflammation, repetitive strain, emotional stress, pregnancy, and childbirth can create restrictions within this system.
These restrictions may contribute to:
Unlike traditional massage or stretching techniques, Barnes Myofascial Release uses sustained, gentle pressure applied directly to fascial restrictions. Research and clinical experience suggest that fascia responds best when gentle pressure is maintained long enough for the tissue to soften and release naturally.
Sessions are individualized and often involve:
The goal is not to force change but to support the body's natural ability to restore balance and movement.
As a Pelvic Floor Therapist, I integrate Barnes Myofascial Release principles into comprehensive pelvic health treatment. While symptoms may be felt in the pelvis, the source of restriction may exist elsewhere in the body.
For example:
By assessing and treating the body as a whole, we can often uncover contributing factors that may otherwise be overlooked.
Treatment is always collaborative and tailored to your comfort level and goals.
During a session you may experience:
Many clients report feeling lighter, more connected to their bodies, and more comfortable in movement after treatment.
Myofascial Release is one tool within a comprehensive pelvic health approach that may also include:
Our goal is to help you better understand your body, reduce symptoms, and support lasting function and well-being.
Myofascial Release may be beneficial for individuals experiencing pelvic floor dysfunction, pregnancy and postpartum concerns, chronic pain, scar tissue restrictions, or anyone seeking a gentle, whole-body approach to healing.
